Deadline Extended: Redeemer Health Offers Scholarships that Help Staff Cover the Cost of Nursing Studies

The deadline for full- and part-time Redeemer Health staff who wish to pursue nursing studies, as well as Redeemer Health volunteers pursuing a health-related degree or certification program, was extended to May 17, 2021.

To apply, full-and part-time staff must have a high school diploma or equivalent certification and be accepted into an accredited program for nursing education. The scholarships include:

• The Margaret Helen Dudley Endowment and Scholarship Fund, which awards $7,500 to six eligible candidates
• The John and Helen Gallagher Endowment Fund, which awards one $4,000 scholarship to an eligible candidate
• The Catherine A. and Edward A. Watson Nursing Scholarship Fund, which awards $3,500 to two eligible candidates

Former recipients of these scholarships describe how these funds make a significant impact on their lives. “I cannot begin to express my gratitude upon receiving the Margaret Helen Dudley Endowment and Scholarship Fund,” says Julia Hilger.

Julia says that over the past six years she had been considering a return to school. “Like many other young adults, I have a mortgage, car payment, etc. Affording graduate education can be difficult. Upon receiving this Scholarship, I do not have to worry about covering my educational expenses and taking out additional loans. I can continue my education, without the burden of financial stress,” adds Julia.

That sentiment is echoed by Victoria Ramey, another former and appreciative scholarship recipient. “Honored, overjoyed, blessed is how I feel about receiving the Catherine A. and Edward A. Watson Nursing Scholarship. I am trying to set and achieve goals, establish myself, and cement my foundation. Being granted this Scholarship has helped to lessen the financial burden for me to carry.”

A Scholarship for Redeemer Health Volunteers
Redeemer Health volunteers graciously give their time and skills to support our mission to care, comfort, and heal. Through the Marion C. Borss Endowment Fund and Scholarship Program, we can give back to them. Through this program, two eligible volunteers who have contributed at least 75 hours can receive $1,000 to pursue a health-related degree or certification program. The application deadline is May 17, 2021.
