Month/Year Started at Redeemer Health: August 2002

Previous Positions and Companies: I worked as Pharmacy Manager at Rite Aid for several years. I then transitioned to hospital pharmacy at St. Francis Hospital in Charleston, where I received several clinical certifications for hospice care, infectious disease and parenteral nutrition. I was able to use this new knowledge in my everyday work, where we established a hospice unit, and work collaboratively with physicians to manage patients in the ICU. I managed a new outpatient pharmacy in Charleston for a couple of years before we moved to Philadelphia in 2002. I started work at Holy Redeemer Hospital as a clinical pharmacist and worked my way up to Pharmacy clinical coordinator, then pharmacy director. Currently, I manage pharmacy clinical systems because it presented different challenges, and it truly has an impact on medication safety, which I am passionate about.

How does your work here contribute to the Redeemer Health mission to care, comfort and heal?
Redeemer Health’s mission to care, comfort and heal is an integral part of what I do on a daily basis. Within the IT framework as a clinical informaticist, I help improve patient care by evaluating clinical data in our systems to support ordering, validation and administering medications safely and assuring that financial and clinical decision-making are sound. This helps our physicians, pharmacists and nurses use the medication cycle in a timely fashion, providing care in a safe and efficient manner.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
I enjoy reading, gardening, cooking and traveling. We have a beautiful home in Dhour el choueir, Lebanon, where we travel and spend summer vacations with family and friends. We make wine from our grapevines and collect olives from our 100-year-old trees to make olive oil.

What would you like to share about your family and pets?
I have been married to my college mate and best friend for 32 years. We have two children, Christina and Adam. They both lead very productive lives, and I adore both of them. Christina, the serious one, loves to care for the sick and injured and is currently a surgical resident in Myrtle Beach. Adam has been working in the financial industry since he graduated seven months ago, and he seems to like it. Oreo, my daughter's cat, is my “grandson” until she has her own!
