Redeemer Health Achieves 'A' Grade for Hospital Safety Again from Nationally Recognized Leapfrog Group

Redeemer Health received an "A" grade for hospital safety for the sixth time in a row from the Leapfrog Group. The spring 2022 grade reveals high achievements in protecting patients from preventable harm and error at Holy Redeemer Hospital.

"Our continued success in safe patient care is a testimony to the commitment exhibited by our caregivers, our leadership team, and our entire workforce," said Jeanette Teets, Redeemer Health VP and Chief Quality, Safety and Reliability Officer. "In fact, one of the areas in which Holy Redeemer Hospital scored very highly reflects the commitment from leadership, responsiveness from staff, and proper training in a well-developed nursing team."

Holy Redeemer Hospital's Leapfrog safety scores were also particularly strong in medication administration, prevention of health care associated infections, and presence of specially trained doctors in critical care.

The Leapfrog Group, an independent national organization, assigns an "A," "B," "C," "D," or "F" to hospitals across the country based on more than 30 national performance measures reflecting errors, accidents, injuries and infections, as well as systems hospitals have in place to prevent harm.

According to the Leapfrog Group, its hospital safety grade is the only ratings program based exclusively on hospital prevention of medical errors and harm to patients. The grading system is peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public. Grades are updated twice annually, in the fall and spring.

"As our health care system continues to feel the strain of the pandemic, I thank the workforce and leadership at Redeemer Health for sustained commitment to patient safety, day in and day out," said Leah Binder, president and CEO of the Leapfrog Group. "An "A" safety grade is an outstanding achievement, and one that is not possible without 24/7 effort by the entire health care workforce to protect patients from harm. This community should be proud."
